Katharina Kley received a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Iowa. Her research interests lie in second language testing and assessment, especially in testing second language speaking and vocabulary. She is particularly interested in classroombased language testing, the assessment of language learners’ interactional competence, and the interfaces between second language acquisition research and language testing. Moreover, Katharina has received a master’s degree in Teaching German as a Foreign Language from the University of Leipzig, Germany and has been teaching German for over 10 years at the college level in the U.S. and abroad. Her main goals in teaching lie in integrating German language and culture and developing students’ crosscultural competence.
